Aether

January 1998 - February 2002

Aether was an original-themed fantasy MUSH (text-based roleplaying game) based on various world mythologies. With its consent-based roleplay, extensive news files, and innovative code, Aether attracted a multitude of talented players and staff over its four-year run. The website contains logs, artwork, and stories that accumulated over that time and chronicle the vast creativity of its players.

Aether II

May 2004 - January 2005

Aether II, opened after a "reunion" rekindled interest in the game, was set twenty years after the first, in the twin cities of Parnassus and Irha-Esh. Its unique setting allowed many races to mingle, though not always peacefully, and life could be harsh in this outlying province far to the north of Haven. The game was designed with a smaller grid and more localized politics in the hopes of encouraging a broader interaction between players.

Aether: The Odyssey

February 2005 - July 2005

Aether: The Odyssey allowed players to encounter lands and races beyond the "known world" of Aether, on an ongoing ocean voyage in search of treasure, revenge, romance, or simple adventure. It combined real-time roleplay, travel journals, stories, and admin-run events, in order to create a unique and absorbing experience.

Although Aether and its various spin-offs have closed down, Argon has allowed the websites to remain as a tribute to the time, work, dedication, and care that went into each one. While there are no plans to resurrect the game yet again, check this site for further updates, such as an ongoing project detailing some of the other races beyond the "known world."

In the meantime, the following links will help former players and staff to keep in touch:
