The Ormani Decemvirate may be the political and cultural force of
the Atlanteans, but the Amaris Decemvirate is the economic force
behind the Atlanteans. There is not a single sea or land that is
adjacent to a river, sea, or ocean that has not seen the presence of
the Amaris Trade ships. Historically, the Amaris Decemvirate was
settled during the second great migration of Atlanteans from the
surroundings of Atlantis. Unlike the Tritonians, the Amaris settled
in the waters of the Southern Atlantic just long enough to create
ships of exploration. It was Amaris vessels and Atlanteans that
mapped the far waters of the seas of Aether. The Amaris were not
content to merely rest upon the knowledge of their discoveries but
had the foresight to realize the inherent benefit to the Amaris if
they returned with Ships of Trade. Within a few generations, the
Amaris Trade Fleet was the largest upon the waves and even to this
day, they traffic all sorts of wares from one corner of Aether to
the other. An Amaris Trade Vessel is the largest ship upon the seas
and are known to all. In addition, the Amaris use the collected
bounty of their trading and act as money-lenders for both Atlanteans
and other races. Amaris ability in this arena is renown.
Geographically, the Amaris Decemvirate is larger than the Ormani
Decemvirate, but it is far less populated than its older cousin. The
Amaris population seems to be collected in a few large cities that
act as central locations for their Trade Ships. The Amaris are very
similar in outlook with their northern neighbors but seem to be a
little open to outside society due to their interactions with those
above the waves. Lately, the Amaris seem to be a bit more
progressive...they have made several assertive proclamations in
regards to the most recent war between the Empyerean and Varati
people. In addition, there seems to be a greater tendency for those
of the Amaris Decemvirate to stray from the worship of Pasiphae and
embrace the newer worship of the Sea...something that seems to be
increasing in recent years.
