There is a saying amongst the Atlanteans, 'The Ormani are the
center of the Atlantean People, but the Lir are it's Heart'. The
origins of the Lir are lost in antiquity, but the age of some of the
ruins and artifacts found within the Lir Decemvirate suggests that
the Lir Atlanteans are easily as old as the Atlantis stock. Whatever
the case, the waters of the Lir Decemvirate hold a mystical quality
about them and the powers of their people are renown. It is because
of this that the Priesthood of Pasiphae has declared the Lir
Decemvirate to be its spiritual home. The Priests and Priestesses of
the Order spend at least a portion of their lives here and the
Atlanteans seem to hold special reverence of Priests that hail from
this area.
The Lir Decemvirate is located in the North Sea, Irish Sea, and
the Baltic Sea. There waters are cold deep places with a reputation
for wildness and storm wracked seas. It is a telling of the
hardiness and power of the inhabitants that they can survive and
thrive in those waters. Still, the population of the Lirites are
rather small...much smaller than the other Decemvirates according to
rumors. The Lirites retain a greater number of Priests than is
expected and there seems to be a reversal of roles within their
Decemvirate. The Priests of Pasiphae there hold many of the
leadership roles that the Ephorate normally hold in other places,
for all intents and purposes governing the Lir. The Ephorate exists
there, but it seems that it merely supports the rule of the Priests.
The Lirites seem content with this arrangement.
