Any discussion of the Ormani Decemvirate is pointless without a
mention of the City of Atlantis. It has been millennia since the sun
last shone upon the magnificent pillars and spires of the City...and
sources indicate that less than a dozen Land-Dwellers have seen it
since. Oddly enough, the Atlanteans have been reluctant to speak of
details of their City other than to confirm that it does still exist
and that it is the center of the Atlantean civilization. Most of the
information that is available is gleaned from the accounts of the
few Land-Dwellers that have ventured beneath the waves and returned.
Their accounts speak of a City that is almost perfectly preserved, a
City that looks almost the same as the day it sunk. The accounts
lend support to the fact that Atlantis is the center of the
Atlantean people by making note that several tens of thousands of
Atlanteans can be found in Atlantis, making it one of the largest
inhabited Cities on Aether. It is the center of Atlantean Politics
and every Decemvirate maintains a mission there and all pay at least
lip homage to the glories of Atlantis. Also interesting is the fact
that Atlantis is still the center of worship to Pasiphae, though
their 'Seminary' can be found in a modest Temple in the Decemvirate
of Lir.
The rest of the Ormani Decemvirate is a moderately populated
expanse that in many ways represents all that is ideal in Atlantean
Society. The 'Class' system of Commoner-Clergy-Government that the
Atlanteans more of less follow originated here and is of course, the
strongest here. There is no known friction amongst the classes and
the society beneath the waves seems near ideal..there is no want..no
class struggle..no worries save the most mundane. The Ormani
Decemvirate has been first amongst equals for as long as most
Atlanteans can recall when they bother to even discuss the Ephorate.
Their wisdom has ensured peace and prosperity, with only one
exception, for millennia and they wield considerable political,
cultural, and economic clout that extends far beyond their domains
in the Mediterranean waters. The presence of the city of Haven near
Ormani waters presents a unique opportunity for Atlanteans to
interact with of the cultures that have developed above the waves.
