The world of Aether, comprised of its founding theme (including its geography, unique political setting, each individual race and its system of magic) as well as several characters known as "feature" characters, are the intellectual property of Astra M. Poyser (aka: Astraea), goddess and founder of the original game (aka. AetherMush). The "feature" characters originally conceptualized by Astra which are claimed under this copyright include: Khalid Atar, Aurora, Jason, Orman Kai, Lysander, Damaris, Justinius, Lucian, Cynara, Cassandra, and Samein.
AetherMush ran from 1998 to 2002. In 2004, Astra allowed former staff members to use parts of the original theme as the basis for the re-opening of the game, now known as AetherII. However, the world, races, terms, factions, plots, and particular "feature" characters remain under Astra Poyser's copyright and are used with permission.
Any individual's player-character may be used at their discretion. However, should that character be used for any purpose outside of role-play on AetherII, details that directly pertain to Aether must be altered or removed completely. In addition, the world of Aether cannot be used as a setting without the express permission of Astra Poyser.
