Aether II
Characters Wanted

[Race-Specific | General | Features | Player-Sought]

Here we provide some of the game's wanted ads. New to the game and looking for a concept to play? Feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start? Hoping to get your foot in the door with a position of power or one that offers the potential for leadership? You've come to the right place. The ads have been divided up into four categories. Please read the info in each category, some positions are race-specific, some require an app and some need specific stats. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the person listed in each ad. Additionally, these are not the *only* character types you can play on the game. If you have an idea for a character type, feel free to ask staff about it.

If you're a player and have some ideas for ads, either for your own sphere or the game in general, please contact Eos with the ad and it will be added here.

Race-Specific

These ads are for one particular race, but unless otherwise indicated do not need an application. When necessary, a player contact is provided should you need additional information on a character concept.

Darklings: Darklings are Empyreans that have dark coloring, usually this means they have dark brown/black hair and/or wings. Empyreans, especially the nobility, pride themselves on their pale colorings, so a darkling is generally seen as an outcast. Darklings are rare and thus they require an application. Contact Eos for more information.

Empyrean Mages: The Empyreans are the weakest when it comes to magic and thus all Empyrean mages are app-only. We currently have slots open for Empyrean mage characters in all spheres of magic except elemental-air. Contact Eos for more information.

Farmers for the Mohononeo: (Sylvan) Play in the dirt or be a gatherer. Being skilled at the land doesn't mean you have to talk about it all the time!

Filiae Graiae: (Empyrean women only) Similar to the real-world Vestal Virgins, the Filiae Graiae are the guardians of the Temple in Parnassus. The group consists of nine women, three for each rank in the order. These priestesses are responsible for all religious ceremonies and festivals that take place throughout the year, they oversee weddings and funerals and are often sought after as advisors, for they are considered to be neutral. Like the Vestal Virgins, all Filiae remain virgins for the thirty year duration of their duties. We are looking for Filiae of all levels and would love to have one that has Clairvoyance magic. All Filiae characters require applications. Please speak with Eos for more information on this position.

Praetorians: (Empyreans, and in some cases, mongrels.) The Praetorian Guard is the military force of the Empyrean people. Similar to the army of Ancient Rome, they are known for their precision, skill, rigid training and loyalty to the Guard. The Guard is seeking characters from the lowest rank of Ceterion to the Praefect (see the Features ad for more info.) Ceterions can be created straight out of chargen, Optios need speak for with Eos, but no app is needed and Centurions require an application before one can be played. Parnassus, the Empyrean city, is currently under marshal law and there are concerns and rumors that the Guard might not be so willing to give up their control of the city. There is lots of opportunity to get involved in the role of a Guard outside of simply swinging a gladius around or shooting arrows. Servator Praetorians must be noble or Praetorian caste and must be Empyreans. The Velites are composed of commoners, mongrels, darkling and the occasional Empyrean of a higher social standing that is being punished. If you're interested in playing a Praetorian, please contact Eos and/or Quintus for more information.

Sylvan Mages: (Sylvans) Graisha/Shapechangers, Earth-Elementals, Shaping (wood/stone), and Clairvoyants all welcome. Please speak to Ptesan-Wi first if you want to be a healer.

Traders: (Sylvans) Either those raised Mohononeo and travel to the city or a trader from another tribe come to stay with the Mohononeo for some time.

Warriors/Hunters: (Sylvans) Most Sylvans are adept at hunting small game and/or joining larger hunting parties. In the Mohononeo, the Warrior/Hunters are not a large group, but a particularly skilled one. They act as guardians of their land, greeters to strangers, those who watch for any changes in the country, forests, and nearby cities that might affect the Mohononeo.

General

These ads are for general character types, roles that could be filled by two or more racial types. Unless otherwise indicated these positions do not need an application. Contact the staffer or player mentioned if you need more information or have any questions.

Bridge Guild: The Bridge Guild is composed of those whose livelihood depends on the commerce of the bridge. This can range from the general merchant to master craftsmen to the Founder's Council up to the Caisson, the leader of the Guild. The bridge is the center of commerce in the region and there is the opportunity for the Bridge Guild to have a bigger role in the region, not just life and work on the bridge. Guildmembers can be of any race, gender, and social standing. Members of the Founder's Circle require an application to staff as do any master craftsmen who require stats higher than what can be set in chargen. Contact Maat for more information on the Guild and how to get involved.

Castallia: The Castallia is a haven for mages, a commune where they can live peacefully, as long as they respect and abide by the laws of the Empyreans. The Castallia was formed over twenty years ago, after the Empyrean - Varati war in an effort for the Empyreans to gather to them a larger collection of mages. While not established as a school, some mages living here will take on students and all mages are welcome within their walls. We are accepting general Castallia members as well as leadership positions (see Ductor ads in the Features section.)

Trolls: The Trolls are the police force on the bridge, the hired swords of the Bridge Guild. They can be from any race, either gender, any social caste, though they should have some ability to fight or the desire to learn. They are by no means a highly organized military organization and their authority extends no further than the Bridge at this time. A member of the Trolls is still a citizen of his respective city, he need not forsake his citizenship to serve on the Trolls, it is just a job. For more information contact Kekipi.

Features

These ads are feature characters, all needing an application to staff. While not required, it is generally helpful for a player new to the theme to play a 'regular' character before trying for a feature character. Some of these features are race-specific, others can be played by more than one race. Please contact staff for more information if you are interested in playing one of these features. All features are expected to be active in the game and be willing to help run and create plots for their spheres and in some cases the game in general. Staff reserves the right to remove a character from a feature position if they feel he or she is not contributing to the game.

Aegians: (Empyrean only) Things are changing in Parnassus. The Governor-Regent has run off with his tail between his legs and the Praetorians have taken over control of the city. But the Aegis in Civitas Dei isn't going to stand for that. The Aegis has decided to send a few of its members to Parnassus to run things and get the city back up and running.

So we are opening up applications for Aegians and Adjutors to come to live in Parnassus and take over governing of the city. Hopefully this will provide more of the political RP I've heard people asking for. We're looking for Aegians from lesser houses and Adjutors from either large or small houses. We will not be accepting Aegians from great houses (though possible Adjutors) because this is a small town and the Aegian for Jove or Acesius or Augustus isn't going to come spend their time here. It is an opportunity for lesser Aegians to possibly make a name for themselves, allow them the chance to govern rather than sit in the back of the Aegian Hall and listen to others talk and debate.

This position requires an application to staff. If you're interested and have some questions, please feel free to contact Eos. This is not going to be a large delegation, perhaps 5 at the most and we're looking for a both Empyre and Republican supporting Aegians. This is a feature position and will require the players in question to be active both ICly in the Empy sphere and the region around them as well as OOCly active in helping create and drive plots. Please speak with Eos before creating a character and his or her house, some house have NPC Aegians and Adjutors that have already been written into the history.

Ductors of the Castallia: (Mage, any race) The Ductors of the Castallia are the leaders of their respective sphere of magic and they serve under the Auctor. At the current time the Ductors are running the Castallia until a new Auctor can be found to replace Bhruic. An ideal Ductor would be at Adept level in his or her magical abilities and the player should be willing to give lessons in his or her magic to lesser mages. A Ductor can be from any race (though elemental mages are restricted to their specific race unless the mage is a halfbreed) but has generally spent some time as a regular member of the Castallia before being named a Ductor.

Applications for Ductors are being accepted in all magical spheres except for Shaping (Minowa is our Shaping Ductor) and Elemental Air (we are currently not accepting any el-Air apps). If you are interested in this position you can either apply to be an existing Ductor, one appointed before Bhruic's death, one seeking to be made a Ductor, though you'll need wait until we have an Auctor for the position to become official, for it is the Auctor who chooses the Ductor. Contact Eos for more information.

Pasha of Irha-Esh: (Varati only) The Pasha is the Varati equivalent to a city's governor and generally appointed by the Varati God-King, Khalid Atar. The city's most recent Pasha has recently died, suspected assassination, leaving the door wide open for someone to step up and take control. With Khalid Atar gone from his people there is a greater opportunity for the Pasha to be less traditional, especially since Irha-Esh is a small Varati city nestled in Empyrean lands. It can easily be overlooked by the rest of the kingdom and as such affords for the chance for change. The Pasha, while traditionally male, could be a woman (and it is being encouraged) that is seeking a place to begin some changes among the Varati, especially in the area of women's rights.

There is great opportunity to affect the Varati sphere by taking on this role. Will the Varati continue in their ultra-conservative ways or will a new Pasha seek to make some changes in this small city and create a city where other Varati might seek refuge? The possibilities are nearly endless, so if this sounds like something of interest to you, contact Erzulie for more information on the position.

Sachem of the Mohononeo Tribe: (Sylvan only) The Sachem is the chief or leader of the tribe. The position can be filled by a male or female. The Sachem is the one who brings ideas to the council of elders, makes the tough decisions, and provides direction to the tribe. Contact Ptesan-Wi for more information.

Shaman of the Mohononeo Tribe: (Sylvan only) The Shaman is the spiritual guide of the tribe. Typically the position is held by a woman and she is considered the partner of the God, Tuperan. Contact Ptesan-Wi for more information.

Player-sought

These ads come from other Aether players for characters they need for their faction, family, or a particular storyline. These can be temporary or permanent characters but generally are straight out of chargen characters. Any feature characters will need approval from staff. Please contact the player mentioned in the ad for more information on the character required.

Grizelda: (Mongrel character) (Posted by Grizelda's player) First off, lemme apologize for not being around alot, lately. RL has snapped me a new one, and my time has been therefore and thusly severely limited.

Resultingly, I am having to cut back on my time on the computer, which means limited rp availability. I don't want to put people in a pinch, and I really dearly love this character... I think, in fact, she has great potential to be a mover and a shaker in any path taken..

Which brings me to my proposal. If there is anyone out there who would like to take over this character, rp and otherwise, please @mail me. I don't want to take her off the grid, and I don't think she can easily go by the wayside, especially given the connections she has to other PCs. (Unlike an alt or two of mine that I have already rid myself of.) So please please please if you're interested in taking Grizelda on, please @mail. Thanks!

Grizelda's info: The most feared Orphan Border Mistress this side of the world. With a heavy tendency towards drink, and a heavier hand and boot, she is without a doubt the meanest, ugliest Ruler Of All Fatherless. Which is not to say she is above the seduction of lascivious, ne'er-do-wells. But who would care to warrant an investigation into the weird rumors for little no-bodies that were left to die, abandoned without hope onto her doorstep? That's right, kiddos, -no- one, and it's best for all those slovenly, disgusting little kids out there to remember WHO is boss 'round -here-.

House Acesius: (Empyrean Noble House) House Acesius is looking for some active family members, servants, slaves, former slaves and other associates.

Nobles: We're always accepting noble family members (though no more direct relations to the Deus and Dea such as children or siblings are available.) If you have a character idea, feel free to contact Zea about the possibility of working it in. Acesians are heavy into politics, but the house has also given birth to scholars, soldiers, businessmen, and even the occasional layabout. :)

Servants and Slaves: Want to be a part of House Acesius but don't want to play a noble? Servants and slaves are always welcome, though servants tend to be pure Empyreans and slaves are mongrels. Recently, Zea has started giving her personal slaves a small salary (though nothing near what Empyrean servants receive.)

Former slaves: The Vilica has recently given freedom to some of her personal slaves, if you'd like to play a recently freed slave, feel free to contact Zea about previous living conditions and the like. Or perhaps you are a runaway from another Acesian household in the Republic looking to start a new life in the shadow of Parnassus.

Other associates: House Acesius is an extremely old and wealthy house and their fingers have stretched into a variety of different proverbial pies. If you'd like some kind of link to House Acesius be it a legal arrangement, understood friendship or some under the table deal, contact Zea and we'll see what we can work out.

If you have any other ideas not listed here, feel free to talk with Zea about it, the above suggestions are only suggestions, other character types are more than welcome.

House Fortuna: (Empyrean Noble House) Just in case anyone may have picked up the wrong impression from previous posts: House Fortuna is stil very much alive and active ICly. We're looking for more gladiators, more staff (remember, we ARE the majority shareholder in the Coliseum), more... well. You name it. If you want to be a part of House Fortuna, drop Andreas @mail, suggesting a character concept and maybe a couple of plots your character could be involved in, and we'll talk.

House Quirinatus: (Empyrean Noble House) Ever wanted to be part of a dysfunctional family but didn't want the responsibility of carrying a bigwig name around? Felt like, you know, the Fortunas were too tame for your tastes? Want to be a noble but don't want to be all alone in the big bad city of Parnassus?

Valerian is looking for family relationships in the House Quirinatus (NPC Minor House), predominantly close family members to scheme, plot, and argue with. Some really important individuals Valerian would like to see in Valerian's future include Valerian's second seducing ex-wife with an infant daughter in tow, a politically-minded half-sister, a good-for-nothing teenage son (if you want a lot of conflict), and a close first-cousin who is almost like a brother to Valerian and acts as his chief advisor. Some other concepts include close first cousins and perhaps even an evil uncle trying to usurp Valerian's position in the family.

For many of Valerian's family relationships, he has certain guidelines such as naming conventions and the general feel of the Quirinati household and its beliefs, but most of the details are completely negotiable. Please keep in mind the House Quirinatus IS NOT a PC House at the moment. Y'all have been warned. So far, two other very talented characters are in some way or fashion involved with Valerian as 'family' and he'd love to have other players interact with me in a way beyond all those fresh introductions that are so difficult to pull off well.

Take a look at Valerian's +info as a representative look at the House Quirinatus in the past 3-4 decades.

As a secondary blurb, Valerian is looking for one or two gladiators for the upcoming Games. These characters, unless you want them to be more substantial, will most likely be NPCs. But nonetheless, Valerian will have a lot of interaction with them as well. With the sudden departure of Ludovicus from Parnassus, Valerian is interested in rebuilding the House Quirinatus' presence in the Arena, and one can only do so much by controlling the folks that makes sure the Arena stays up every night..

Please page or @mail Valerian if interested or if you have any questions.
