IMPORTANT GAME ANNOUNCEMENT: This announcement has been a long time coming. I've tried to put it off, thinking things might improve, but I've reached a point where I cannot do this anymore. I am sorry to say that as of July 1st I will be retiring as Goddess and will be closing Aether. There is no one single reason for this, but rather a few that have led me to this decision, and it was not one I've made lightly. I simply do not have the amount of time or energy to devote what is needed by a goddess to keep it running.
At this time there is no intended plan of handing the game and theme over to someone else, for that is not my decision to make. The theme belongs to Astraea and if she is willing to allow someone else to take a stab at the Aether theme, that would be her decision to make. I have emailed her about the closing and if she is open to someone taking over, I will let you know that, if anyone has an interest in doing so.
I believe that Aether Odyessey was a new game format with a great deal of potential and I am sorry to see it go. I have had a lot of wonderful RP with a group of very talented players and I thank each of you for your contribution to the game, both in Parnassus and out on the Odyssey. If you have something that you'd really like to RP before we close, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. Feel free to @decompile anything of yours that you would like to keep for after July 1st I can't promise you'll sill be able to access it.
As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to @mail or page me, I'll be glad to answer your questions. Once again, thank you all for your participation, it truly has been fun to RP with you all.

Nearly every culture has some stories of angels, demons, faeries, gods and goddesses. Was it merely human fancy that created similar legends all across the world, or could those stories have some basis in fact? What if these beings really did exist, and our rare glimpses of such creatures gave rise to tales, myths--even entire religions.
Imagine, if you will, a world that is a reflection of our own. Seen as if through rippled glass, or the ever-changing depths of the ocean, it seems at once familiar and strange. Aether is this world, a distorted image of what is, what has been, and what will be. It is the heart and soul of the 'real' world, and its magical facets are reflected in our 'reality.' Aether is a world separate from our own, yet inexplicably entwined; where "gods" and "goddesses" still walk; where "angels" and "demons" wage a battle between light and darkness; and where magic, in all its varying forms, still exists.
Aether is an original-themed fantasy MUSH (Multi-User Shared Hallucination) -- a type of online roleplaying game. It was based on various world mythologies, including classical Greek and Roman, Native American, and ancient Persian and Indian.
Aether: The Odyssey takes characters from the known world of Aether and allows them to explore lands and races of the entire world. Join in the voyage of the Amarada and the Makara as they set sail for lands unknown in search of adventure, treasure, revenge, and the simple thrill of exploration and the unknown.
