Submission Guidelines
We welcome player submissions to the game and the website, but different different kinds of submissions have different guidelines. Below you can find the submission requirements for different aspects of the website and the game.

Mail Submissions
If you need to contact members of aether staff you can either log onto the game and @mail *staff or you can email us at: aether@mux.net. The address "aether@mux.net" gets a massive amount of email spam and all incoming mail is put through a strict filter to try and keep this down to a minimum. If you are emailing an application to staff, your application MUST have a subject line that matches the format below:
APPLICATION: (name), (race), (magic), (position/points)
For addtional information on application submission, please see News Applications
For any other correspondence you can use AETHERMUSH: in the subject line. You must use with APPLICATION: or AETHERMUSH: in the subject line or our spam filter will toss the mail. Thank you.
Roleplay Logs
We welcome the submission of all logs from Aether, but ask that you follow the guidelines for submission.
- All logs must be spell-checked and edited before sending them in to be posted.
- They must be submitted in plain text (do not add any html to the log) in the body of an email, do not send them as attachments.
- If you'd like to give it a title, you are free to do so, if not one will be given to the log.
- Please include dates in the log. RL date and IC date are preferred. If no RL date is provided I will use the date the log was sent to me.
- Include the names of all the characters in the log and please get permission first from those in the scene, especially if there are secrets revealed in the log.
- Send all logs to empyrean@silverselene.com Please include AETHER LOG: in the subject line.
Character Info
Because of the small playerbase and the close confines of the grid (mainly the two ships) the website has a page for information on all player characters. This consists of a short bio (similar to +info on the game) about the character that anyone on the ship could easily learn, a casting call (though not required), and other +finger information. Players are encouraged to submit their own information; those that do not do so will have a basic bio set by staff based on the character's +info.
Please submit the following info to empyrean@silverselene.com Please include CHARCTER INFO: in the subject line or @mail it to Eos on the game, though email is preferred.
Character name:
Race:
Position/Title:
Casting Call:
Character Bio:
The casting call should include the actor's name and either a picture of the actor you want to use, or a link to the picture. As always, casting calls are first come, first served and if a character is using a particular actor on Aether II, they have first dibs to continue using it in Odyssey.
Art, Diaries, and Stories
Some players extend their creativity outside of the game and create art or stories or Live Journals related to their character or the game in general. We accept all kinds of creative contributions.
Art: Please send the artwork to empyrean@silverselene.com. Please include AETHER ART: in the subject line. With the art itself, please include your character name, a title, and the medium used (pencil, digital, watercolor, etc). Additionally, if you'd like to include a short one or two sentence description of the work, that would be helpful.
Diaries: You can send the link to your character's diary to empyrean@silverselene.com or @mail it to Eos on the game. If sending it by email, please include your character's name. Character web pages will be included in the Diaries section, so if you have a personal website (relating to the game) please send it in the same way.
Stories: Please send the story to empyrean@silverselene.com. Please include AETHER STORY: in the subject line. Like roleplay logs, all stories must be spell-checked and submitted in plain text. Please do not send stories as attachments, submit them in the body of the email. Story submissions will not be accepted by @mail. Stories can be about anything; a story about your character, a fable or myth of one of the races (established or new), a tale told within a family or tribe, a first-hand view of something in history or anything else related to the game. If your story might contain another PC, please make sure that player is fine with the inclusion.
TinyPlot Submissions
If you have an idea for a TP, the submission process is similar to that when submitting a new race. Please submit to staff a basic outline of what you'd like to see in the TP. Include such information as to where the TP should take place, either out at sea, at a specific port, or in a specific part of the world. The outline should also include a few sentences explaining what you would like to see happen. For example, for a magical creature attack TP you should submit something like: While the two ships are out in open water they are attacked by a large sea creature that has been alluded to in fables but has never been seen before. The crew must work to try and capture or kill the beast while keeping the ships afloat. Also include any information on what could be gained from this TP. Does the monster's blood have special healing properties, or would its death anger a race we might encounter? If it involves a new race, please include the basics of that race as well. Staff will look over the outline and if the TP seems feasible we will ask for a formal TP submission that will work very much like any other application. We would like to see the following information in a TP submission:
Title for the TP:
Your Name or Names if more than one person is working on it:
Location:
How long you think it'll take to play out:
What you hope to accomplish:
What NPCs you'll need, if any:
Detailed information on the TP. This would include the background story if there is one, information or items the players should be given or discover through the TP and what you would like to see happen. This does not mean everything will happen as planned, because we do not heavily script TPs.
Submit the race proposal to aether@mux.net (following the mailing guidelines included on this page)
Staff will go over the application and if there are no questions, we will approve the TP and it will be implemented as soon as is possible. Some TPs will not be able to be started right away, depending on the current TP schedule or where the ships are in the world. If the ships are along the coast of RL United States, we will not suddenly appear along the coast of RL New Zealand because your TP is ready to go.
New Race Creation
Because the basic concept of the game has the playerbase traveling, it is expected that we will run into other races that we have never encountered before. We encourage players to explore some of their favorite real-world cultures and myhtologies to create new races for our players to run across.
Please visit the New Race Creation for information on what is required for a new race to be used on the game.
Submit the race proposal to either aether@mux.net (following the mailing guidelines included on this page) or @mail to *staff on the game.
Once your proposal has been approved, please submit the completed race information to aether@mux.net. Race info will not be accepted through game @mail. All submissions must be in plain text in the body of the mail, do not send attachments. If you have any pictures to include with the information you can send them in a second email if you wish.
Playable NPCs
If you have an NPC that you would like to submit to staff as a Playable NPC, send the following information about the NPC to aether@mux.net (following the mailing guidelines included on this page).
NPC's Name:
NPC's Race:
NPC's Position
NPC's Bio/Info:
NPC's Description:
NPC's Age and Gender:
NPC's +sheet:
Ship NPC works on:
Is this an NPC for TP use or permanent use?
Anything else special about that character not mentioned above. Please remember that other players will be taking on this character and they need to know as much as possible about this character.
Miscellaneous
If you have something you'd like to submit to the website that hasn't been mentioned yet, feel free to do so, by sending it to empyrean@silverselene.com. Include your character's name with the submission. This could be anything from spoofed songs, humorous OOC chatter or anything else you might come up with.
