In the year 3905 on Aether, in the city of Haven, the refugees from the Varati/Empyrean war still camped on the outskirts of town were stricken by a plague. In time, it spread to affect the denizens of the city, and the various governments must struggle to find a cure as well as care for the sick, homeless Empyrean citizens. 09-02-99: Some time after midnight on March 14, 3905, a riot erupts in the Rialto. The disgruntled citizens of Haven, starving for many days, lay waste to the Rialto and attempt to penetrate Atesh-Gah, the Korallion and the Palladium in search of food. 08-25-99: Maat goes to clear up some issues about the lungroot with Delphi. After some miscommunication, both Maat and Okalani acquire some useful information from the discussion. - Into the Lion's Mouth (31K)

08-19-99: Spirit-Whisperer leads a delegation from Delphi to negotiate with the Apisachi for a supply of lungroot, an herb that is known to cure the sickness that is spreading through Haven. - A Tidy Profit (11K)

08-17-99: Entrepreneurial Weasel sells herbs to desperate patrons in the Rialto. Not completely desperate, Richard attempts to make Weasel verify his wares by pointing out the competition. - Divided We Fall (25K)

08-15-99: Cassius goes to meet with several Varati representatives -- the Pasha of Haven, a Nabi in the Atarvani, and the Shakir of Al'Samar -- in the hopes of gaining their cooperation in finding a cure for the plague. - United We Stand... (14K)

08-15-99: After hearing that House Tritonis is offering coin and free passage to the refugees of the Tent City, to encourage them to leave for Edessa, Cassius panicked, and rushed to meet with the Princeps. He is convinced that the plague is in danger of raging out of control and escaping the boundaries of Haven, and he urges Leonidas to take a more aggressive stance on the matter. - Too Little, Too Late? 08-13-99: The Emperor and Empress pay a visit to the tent city, which has been moved further onto the outskirts of Haven after the Provost burned the former site in the hopes of stalling the plague from spreading. They bring healers to relieve those who have been working among the sick, and they bring food for those who haven't enjoyed a full belly in months. But to the Varati, who have been organizing aid for the refugees since the war, their overtures are a little late. - The Sixth Surah (20K)

08-12-99: Kiera returns to check on the results of her generosity and then, before she can leave, the arrival of Shahar causes the conversation to shift to the various sacrifices that must be made in order to uphold the sixth surah and show compassion to those less fortunate. - Conquest by Contamination (13K)

08-11-99: Cassius receives an "assignment" from the Emperor -- to glean what he can about the plague from the Varati, and to ascertain whether or not it might have been engineered purposefully, in order to weaken the Empyre yet further. - Cooling the Fire (35K)

07-29-99: Faanshi comes to the Tent City to offer her healing abilities. The overwhelming bombardment of pain drives her to an action which ultimately results in a small riot.
