• Up From the Deep (59K)
  Featuring: Amahl, Andrik, Axel, Cyrene, Deianyra, Jeni, Rasamei, Sven, Vikesha
  12-28-01: The Amarada has been heading steadily northward toward the Aesir lands, despite the setback of having its captain struck down by illness. One cold morning, it is attacked by a ferocious Najada clan who want to make a sacrifice of the ship's crew to their bloodthirsty gods.
• From Breasts to Babies (41K)
  Featuring: DancingFingers, Igasho, Prying-Eagle, WhiteStar
  12-21-01: What begins as a simple conversation between friends soon becomes hilarity as Prying-Eagle joins company and wants to learn sign language from the near-deaf DancingFingers. Strange things happen when he attempts to mimic her signs.

November:

• Full Circle (19K)
  Featuring: Abbas, Saadiya
  11-24-01: A vaisya woman encounters a strange man in the temple of Khalid -- strange because he speaks like an Atarvani, yet wears the dread black armor of an Agni-Haidar.
• A Thwarted Ambush (19K)
  Featuring: Babadur, Khadija, Saadiya, Shihab (emits)
  11-20-01: Clan Messala has a new leader, but some of its members are not too pleased, and they try to take their vengeance on the new warlord's mahisi in an unexpected ambush.

October:

• Sweeten the Deal (15K)
  Featuring: Gabriel, Raijin
  10-29-01: The Aegian of Augustus works out a deal with the Seneschal of Delphi, that should work out to the Empyre's benefit, and should also help Delphi get its treaty passed.
  

September:

• The Hunt Begins (17K)
  Featuring: Amitrea, Tiber
  09-28-01: Returning from an errand for her employer, Amitrea has a run-in with the scarred Praetorian, Tiber.
• The Seeds of Ambition (18K)
  Featuring: Alexandrus, Proserpina
  09-04-01: Mother and son discuss the latest happenings in Haven and in the Empyre, and Proserpina urges 'Drus to seek some political office so that he might have more influence during these troubling times. He proves that his ambitions have already exceeded hers.
  

August:

• Rattling the Chains (25K)
  Featuring: Aevarus, Gabriel
  08-09-01: Gabriel and Aevarus first met in the Nest, years ago. And over time, their friendship has deepened -- withstanding the tests of war, distance, and diverging paths. Gabriel has been imprisoned ever since his subversive attempt to call together a meeting about Delphi with the other racial governments, without his Emperor's knowledge or consent. Aevarus comes to visit him, for what may be the last time.
• In Remembrance of the Princeps (33K)
  Featuring: Alexandrus, Aurora, Calliope, Elanus, Mabel, Mnemosyne, Octavian, Olivia, Selene, Theron, Uriel
  08-03-01: The Princeps' spirit is borne away on the ashes of his pyre, as those who loved him and respected him pay their last respects.

July:

• A New Order (40K)
  Featuring: Arius, Cressida, Hesperos, Jana, Magnus, Olivia, Selene, Tiber
  07-30-01: Arius has been gaining a following of soldiers in the Schola, each bearing the double-lightning bolt tattoo upon their forearms that marks them as the Emperor's "chosen." It is with this military backing that he is able to strip the Aegis of its power, and the Princeps of his life, in a bold move that will rock the Empyre to its very core.
• Mind and Mortality (26K)
  Featuring: Gabriel, Shinjukou
  07-07-01: The Aegian of Augustus invites the Decemvir of Orcinus to the Palladium, ostensibly to give her a tour of its grounds, but also to find out what she discovered after her meeting with the Emperor. But that exchange is soon overlooked in favor of a more philosophical discussion about gods, eternity, and death.

June:

• Speak Your Mind, Share Your Thoughts (50K)
  Featuring: Aine, Alamoana, Gabriel, Jasmine, Kaiulani, Naiadre, Olivia, Selene, Shinjukou
  06-14-01: A trio of Empyreans visit the Korallion in order to meet with various Atlantean representatives and try to glean what they intend to do about Delphi now that the Varati have withdrawn from it.
• If Not for Love... (68K)
  Featuring: Agrippina, Altair, Aquamia, Arius, Cepheus, Cersei, Corael, Cyrilian, Gabriel, Jana, Lucia, Octavian, Olivia, Selene, Urian, Valerian, Versus
  06-10-01: Gabriel and Corael are wed in the cella of the Palladium, in the eyes of the gathered gods and mortal witnesses.
• The Question of Delphi (33K)
  Featuring: Geridan, Khalid (VI), Niamh, Sumai, Thalia (II), Zahrah
  06-08-01: Khalid assembles his leaders for a council of state, seeking their opinions in regards to Delphi. However, once everyone has spoken, the God-King keeps his own counsel, and does not yet reveal his final decision.
• Change Wrought in Small Steps (35K)
  Featuring: Gabriel, Olivia, Selene
  06-06-01: Gabriel calls together two of the most socially influential women of the Empyre in order to solicit their aid in deterring the Atlanteans from withdrawing from Delphi, as the Varati have done.
• Be Prepared (22K)
  Featuring: Aja, Kasia, Khalid (VI), Mohid, Niamh, Sumai, Thalia (II)
  06-02-01: The God-King of the Varati comes to Haven in response to Delphi's branding and whipping of Janizar Kedar. Yet, his arrival hints that the Varati have been planning their response to Delphi for some time.

May:

• We Who Will Shape the Future (57K)
  Featuring: Arius, Aurora (III), Cressida, Gabriel, Hesperos, Kalypso, Linus, Magnus, Maximus, Olivia, Selene
  05-28-01: The Aegis is called together to discuss the latest ramifications of the Varati's abandonment of Delphi, and whether or not the Empyre should follow suit and try to seize its chunk of the city while Delphi is weakened and disorganized.
• Exodus (53K)
  Featuring: Aya, Cleon, Dohosan, Fox, Geridan, Kedar, Maximus, Niamh, Olivia, Panyin, Selene
  05-22-01: A couple of months ago, during a festival, a Janizar in the Agni-Haidar assaulted an Empyrean woman after she insulted the Queen-Maharani. He was arrested and imprisoned by the Hounds, and finally the time has come for Delphi to mete out its punishment. Yet the repercussions lead to an exodus of the Varati from Delphi, as dictated by their God-King.

April:

• The Cobra Who Would Be King (33K)
  Featuring: Mekhti, Sukhvir, Thalia (II), Vasuki
  04-20-01: The Qadi of Messala is accused of being involved in the recent poisoning of Atesh-Gah's inhabitants during the festival of Dipavali. Sure enough, the little foppishly-dressed fellow turns out to be more than he seems -- though not quite in a way anyone was expecting.

February:

• Whose Parchment Is It? (27K)
  Featuring: Embla, Fatimah, Lailah, Roxana, Sukhvir, Thalia (II), Zel
  02-19-01: The ordinary journey of the Queen-Maharani through the courtyard is broken by the discovery of a hate letter.
• In Defense of Altair (27K) by Severus

  The Majesty of the Empyre (6K) by Gabriel
  Responsibility and Negligence (6K) by Kalypso
  Let the Juratus Decide... (4K) by Claudius

  02-13-01 - 02-20-01: Altair Leander Chryseis has been charged with treason against the Empyre, and this series of letters showcases the efforts of the defense and prosecution to either dismiss those charges, or bring them to trial. The Aegis is faced with the task of deciding on the matter.
• An Unbroken Bond (24K)
  Featuring: Alexander, Gabriel
  02-05-01: Recently, the elite soldiers of the Praetorian Guard, known as the Schola, increased their numbers around the Hall of the Sky in the Palladium, and about the imperial palace in Civitas Dei. Some viewed this as an unspoken confrontation with the Aegis, which speaks of choosing a new Emperor now that Drusus Jove has been missing for many months. Two men -- an Aegian and a Schola -- meet in the garden to discuss the ramifications of this act, and what might be done about it in order to preserve the unity of the Empyre.
