------

December:

  • A Flame Extinguished (24K)
    Featuring: Cassandra, Cassius
12-29-99: Elidi has been missing for two months now, and though Cassius had sent Zephyr and his men to comb the forests north of Haven for her, there has been no sign of his wife. Thus, he tries one last tactic as a means of locating her -- he seeks out the most powerful clairvoyant in Delphi, in the hopes that her Sight will succeed where a search party has not.
  • One Decree Too Far (40K)
Featuring: Hepzibah, Kerani, Numair, Sakhr, Yamineh (Faanshi)
12-29-99: The Warlord of Clan Behzad issues a decree that sparks a rebellion among his people, and even his own Nayaka turns against him, demanding that Sakhr relinquish his leadership of the Clan.
  • An Eternity of Ten Lashes (31K)
    Featuring: Caius, Diana, Theron
12-16-99: Caius Antoninus, a Ceterion in the Praetorian Guard, nearly sparked another bloody feud between the Empyre and the Varati kingdom when he attempted to attack Khalid Atar during Haven's recent battle with a monstrous leviathan. He was thwarted by a Hound, yet the Praetorian Guard has decided to mete out its own unique justice for the transgression.
  • Dinner and Discussion (38K)
Featuring: Cassius, Drusus, Kalypso, Leonidas, Oriane, Vertinius
12-09-99: Dea Kalypso, the matriarch of Tritonis, hosts a dinner-meeting for the Empyre's leaders within Haven. The event is primarily an excuse to 'interview' Vertinius of Acesius, who hopes to claim his House's seat among the council. Yet the Princeps and Dea also take the opportunity to make a more personal announcement.
  • The Music of Beauty (14K)
    Featuring: Majidah, Niamh
12-06-99: Majidah works her wiles on an unsuspecting priest -- and though he might wield the elements, he's completely out of his element when confronted with a beautiful -- and flirtatious -- young woman.

------

  • Visions and Guidance (27K)
    Featuring: Sharpclaw, Soft-Feather
10-04-99: Sharpclaw has been growing rebellious, letting his tribal duties slack off while embracing his wolfen side more. He thought he knew enough about his shifting to stop his lessons, and started thinking his teacher, Soft-Feather (and others), were trying to run his life. So the teenage graisha began to grow more distant, until a couple nights before a planned trip to Avalon when Soft-Feather finally confronted him.

September:

09-16-99: Even though the plague is beginning to slacken its hold on the city of Haven, many still retain a powerful fear that it was deliberately unleashed upon Haven's helpless masses -- and are looking for someone to blame. Against all logic, a good number of these frightened folk have turned their anger upon the Mongrels, even going so far as to try to burn Milane, the ambassador from the newly-established nation of Avalon. Thomas Murako, leader of Avalon, intends to address this gross injustice for all to hear.

07-21-99: Kuronbo shares his vision -- one supposedly granted him by his goddess, Pasiphae -- with the people of Haven and Atlantis, though his speech is eventually upstaged by an even more monumental event. Does it lend credence to his words, or is it mere coincidence?
  • Sharing the Dream (30K)
    Featuring: Jenean, Thomas
07-20-99: Jenean visits the man called Thomas Murako, the leader of Avalon who offers mongrels and outcasts a dream of liberty, a chance to build new lives, and freedom from oppression and hatred. But Jenean wants to find out whether or not he believes in that dream, and, if not, where his heart truly lies.
  • The Lady Doth Protest Too Much (32K)
    Featuring: Craft, Helena, Thorn
07-14-99: Had Margaret Mitchell tried her hand at MUSHing, she might have played scenes like this, for Thorn is an excellent Rhett to Helena's fiery Scarlett, with Craft playing the role of the honorable Ashley Wilkes (though with a someewhat bloodthirstier temper). Amid politics, intrigue, and rising tension between the races, Haven sports its fair share of romance, too. This log warrants a PG-13 "rating."
  • Ambush! (29K)

Scene: The Foreign Minister of the Varati, Kiral Khalida, is ambushed and abducted on the streets of Haven.

07-07-99: It seems that there is unrest beneath the waves, for this is the second time in a matter of weeks that Haven has glimpsed warships in its bay -- the current group hailing not from the Orcinus, but from the Pandion Decemvirate.
