Available Features and VIPs:
The following feature and VIP (see +vips on the game) positions are currently available. Descriptions of the characters and/or concepts, as well
as links containing further information have been provided in each blurb. There is another list of character-concepts at the bottom of the page -- they may not be
VIPs, but might still require a few extra points and prove more influential than your average starting character. Please be sure to read the news on applications if interested in applying. Contact the staff if you have any questions.
- Aegians: The Empyre's governing body can always use more
representation. Such characters can hail from one of the existing PC
Houses, an NPC House, or else be unaffiliated. Houses Acesius, Ares, Chryseis, and
Jove are currently looking for permanent representatives.
Characters may be male or female, though males are preferred, and such individuals
are typically older (40's or later). Please read the news files about the Aegis for more information, and
peruse the Government section
on the supplemental Empyrean
Web-Page, as well. Contact Astraea, Eos, Bat Kol, or respective +faction heads to find
out more details.
- Atlantean Fleet-Master: Specifically, a fleet-master is needed for the Amarisian Decemvirate. Amaris focuses mainly on trade and exploration, and the position would be a prominent one in the sphere. The character can either be male or female, but should probably be at least in his/her mid-thirties or so, for vast experience at sea is a must. Contact Asherah or Eos for more information, and visit the
Atlantean webpage to read more about the race and its ten kingdoms.
- Behzad Clan Warlord: Such a character will be the faction head of Clan Behzad,
a minor Varati Clan with a bloody and controversial history. The character will be expected -- and required -- to actively promote RP within the Varati sphere, as well as recruit new members for the clan. The history of clan Behzad is recorded on the Behzad Clan page. Contact Hecate or Aker for more information.
- Corypheus of the Heralds: This position does not necessarily require extra points, although that may be helpful. The Corypheus is the head of the Heralds in a given city -- in this case, Haven. He (or she) would be in charge of disseminating and gathering information, and seeing that messages are delivered promptly from city to city or embassy to embassy. Read the web-page for Haven's Heralds, as well
as the news files section on Heralds. Contact Aker or Bat Kol if interested.
- Ettowealona Alpha Warrior: This is a feature-level role for
the Sylvans, specifically the Ettowealona, one of the two forest-tribes
near the city. This character would have an OOC responsibility to drive RP
and TPs, and all applications will be carefully screened. The character
should be a graisha and a seasoned warrior and leader -- essentially the
"general" of a Sylvan "army." Talk to Herne or Itzpapalotl for more details,
and read the news files about the Sylvans.
- Imam of the Atarvani: One of the highest-ranking levels of
the Varati priesthood, the Imams rank only below the Khaliph. Haven could
use more Atarvani in general, and an Imam would be ideal. For more
details, speak to Hecate or Aker online, or read the Varati news files, and visit the web-page
set up exclusively for that race, titled, Varati - People of the Neverending
Fire.
- House Patriarchs (or Matriarchs): There are currently a few
Empyreal Houses without permanent leadership -- specifically, Houses Ares,
Chryseis, Jove, and Januarius. Ares is a Praetorian House, Chryseis is from the
commoner, or merchant class, Januarius is newly-risen nobility, and Jove is one of the premier Houses of the Empyre. You can find out more about each House by checking its "+faction " information online, or you can visit specific web-pages set up for
them at the following websites: House Ares of AetherMUX, Genealogy of House Chryseis, or House Jove. Contact Maximus or Scipio about Ares, Altair and Andromache about Chryseis, Jana or Cressida about Januarius, or Olivia or Calliope about Jove. Or speak to Eos, Astraea, or Bat Kol for more ideas. Characters can be either male or female (males are preferred), and would ideally be in their 30s or 40s at minimum.
- Shakir of Clan Khalida: Khalid Atar and his wife, the
Queen-Maharani, are usually too busy to attend to matters regarding Clan
Khalida, so a leader who can oversee the faction would be a great
help. Clan Khalida is the premier Clan among the Varati, that of the
God-King's own blood. A male character would be preferred, although since
the last Shakir was female, a female might be considered. Please read the
news files on the Varati, and speak to
Khalid, Thalia, Hecate, or Aker about character ideas.
The following character concepts do not necessarily require extra points, but such individuals might be more well-known in and around the city. If any of the following character-concepts strike your fancy, please contact the admin listed in parentheses after the short, explanatory blurb. Also, skim over the news files on occupations for more ideas.
- Traditional Characters: We are especially eager to
encourage players to play more traditional-minded characters, of any race. Such
characters tend to believe in the more strict doctrines of their race, such as "their
race is the most superior/advanced/civilized," etc. and that fraternization with the
other races should be restricted to trade or conquest. While the main setting of the
game, Haven, tends to focus on more liberal leanings, it should be remembered that
most characters born, bred, and raised in their homeland will usually have narrower
and more racist viewpoints. Don't be politically-correct. Embrace bigotry! Play a traditionalist!
- Agni-Haidar: The elite guard of the Varati, called the
"Lions of Fire," is always looking for new members. Such characters are
app-only and usually receive 20-40 extra points. Contact Amipal, Hecate,
or Aker if interested, and check out the Agni-Haidar:
The Lions of Fire page.
- Ambassadors: All of the races could use ambassadors. Ambassadors have the perk of being able to roleplay with a broader range of characters due to their occupation. Speak to the various race-admin for more information, or talk to members of each racial government about how to become instated.
- Askari: The Askari are a secret organization intrinsically tied with Delphi,
whose primary job is to monitor the Order for signs of treason or powermongering reminiscent
of the outbreak of the Mage Wars nearly two centuries ago. They also double as spies and assassins for various racial governments. Read the news files on the Askari for more information, and contact Bat Kol or Itzpapalotl, or the OOC Askari contact-character online.
- Atarvani: The Atarvani can always use more priests. Such characters can be either male or female, although males are more common. A fanatical devotion to the God-King of the Varati is a must. Contact Aker or Hecate for more information, and check out the Varati - People of the Neverending Fire page as well.
- Atlantean lorekeepers: They keep tabs on Atlantean history
and record important events. (Asherah or Eos)
- Buccaneers: Haven is a teeming port city, and bound to attract
certain "shady types." If you'd like to play a dissolute ship-captain, pirate,
or buccaneer who dabbles in the slave trade or other illegal/underground
activities, contact Asherah, Itzpapalotl, or Demetrius.
- Gladiators or their "Manager": There is a coliseum in Haven
in which to hold gladiator bouts or tournaments, and the last several events
were quite successful. Gladiators or "managers" are welcome to coordinate
public scenes as well as perform in them. Also, a trainer would be very
much appreciated. (Eos, Hecate, or Fenimos)
- Guildsmen or Craftsmen: Merchants and craftsmen might
benefit by joining the Merchant's Guild, which is always on the lookout for
new members. All races and affiliations are welcome. (Aurelius, Asherah, or
Itzpapalotl)
- Jurators and Advocates: Judges and lawyers (lawyers are also
called 'juris consulos') for the Empyreans. If you'd like to dabble in law
among the winged crowd, this is the position for you! (Eos or Bat Kol)
- Korallion Guardsmen: Or guardswomen. The Atlanteans are
equal-opportunity employers. The Korallion is the Atlantean embassy in Haven,
and its guards patrol both the embassy grounds and the southern section of the
city. Contact Asherah, Eos, or Riva for more information.
- Praetorian Officers: There is currently a shortage of
officers in the Praetorian Guard, so if you'd like to apply for such a
character, or have a current character advance to the level of a Centurion
or Praefect, please contact Eos, Bat Kol, or Lycius.
- Rialto Merchants: This covers a broad category, but in
particular, we'd like to see some race-affiliated merchants -- perhaps some Varati cloth-merchants or jewellers, who specialize in Clan colors and fabrics. All races
are welcome -- contact the heads of each sphere depending on which race you favor.
- Schola: The Schola are an elite unit of the Praetorian
Guard, whose duty is to protect the Emperor, Empress, and members of the Aegis. They are app-only, and usually receive extra points upon approval. (Eos, Bat Kol, or Aevarus)
- Slave Trader or Auctioneer: The "underground" of Haven
engages in certain nefarious activities, including a brisk slave
trade. Traders and auctioneers are welcome to help spur RP along those
lines. (Bat Kol, Itzpapalotl, or Astraea)
- Tribal Elders: Sylvan tribal elders for the Apisachi,
Ettowealona, and Eyotajolon tribes are always welcome. Contact the Sachems
of each tribe, or look for Herne or Itzpapalotl online for more information.
- Ushasti: The Ushasti are a religious sect within the Varati,
made up primarily of women. They revere the goddess of the dawn, Ushas,
and their worship focuses on healing, midwifery, and motherhood -- though
some say they dabble in "witchcraft," as well. Contact
Hecate or Aker if interested in joining, and check out the Ushasti - Beloved of Ushas
page for more information.
